Situation

The OK Klubinstitut works at the interface between art and club culture. It is about music and dance as well as experiment and design. At the OPEN Club Festival, the OK in Upper Austria’s Kulturquartier was transformed into the festival headquarters for three days with DJs, live acts and talks. The club festival was the kick-off to the exhibition at the OK, which was dedicated to the intersection between art and club culture and presented works from and about the club scene. Artistic positions from the perspective of scene protagonists could be found as well as outside views, documentaries and commissioned works.

Process

Don’t forget to dance! Together with the curators and the staff members of the OK Centrum Linz, we developed a creative system that has strong ties to the institution (like a municipal department) itself. The aesthetics of official institutions' software, the diagrams, the tables, and the treatment of image material were analyzed and form the basis for the corporate design of the Klubinstitut. The modular system does not only find its application in the classic forms of communication such as the ad campaign, but also in the design of the club, the festival and the exhibition, and because of its flexibility it can even be found in the work of one of the artists.
