Situation
At the Ars Electronica Festival 2019 in Linz, the project team exhibited the results of a European wide collaboration that raised and answered questions such as „Can or should there be something like a European way into the digital society, between the “data capitalism” of the IT monopolists and the “data totalitarianism” of the authoritarian regimes? And if so, would such a European “data humanism” also be competitive?“
Process
Derived from the shape of the existing European Union emblem, we designed an adjustable symbol for the exhibition area and its different usages for interactive and static matter. Balanced in between typography and an abstract shape the mark stands for European centered, borderless and open to contributors from all over the world.
